Scoular Appoints First Director of Sustainability, Joshua Mellinger

In December 2020 Scoular released its five-year sustainability strategy with the goal of creating a positive impact on the ag industry through sustainable solutions. In line with this strategy, the company has announced the appointment of its first Director of Sustainability - Joshua Mellinger.

Soular is a privately owned, 128-year-old company with more than 100 offices across North America and Asia. The company buys, sells, stores, handles, and processes grain and ingredients as well as managing transportation and logistics. It has 131 million bushels of storage capacity, making it the 11th largest grain company in the U.S. by capacity.

The strategy encompasses five pillars representing goals to be reached by 2025:

  • Reducing the carbon footprint

  • Responsible marine sourcing

  • Engaging in its communities

  • Promoting diversity and inclusion

  • Upholding workplace health and safety

Overseeing this program, Mellinger brings more than 15 years of experience in sustainability and supply chains with large corporations. Prior to joining Scoular he spent 10 years at Deloitte Consulting where he was most recently head of sustainability, climate change, and fresh supply chain.
