Beck’s Hybrid Acquires Bayer Soybean Seed Facility in Beaman, Iowa
Atlanta-based Beck’s Hybrid announced its acquisition of a soybean seed production and processing facility in Beaman, Iowa, from Bayer. The facility will be used to boost Beck’s seed processing capabilities and for additional warehousing.
As the largest family-owned retail seed company in the U.S., Beck’s has experienced significant growth, doubling in size over the past six years alone. Today, the company is the third-largest corn and soybean brand in the country, offering the world’s most diverse access to genetics and traits.
The site features 30,000-square-feet of warehousing, and includes the modern equipment necessary to process and treat one million units of soybeans per year. This capacity will be in addition to Beck’s three other permanent locations in Iowa, including a processing and distribution facility in Mount Pleasant, a research facility in Marshalltown, and a distribution and Practical Farm research (PFR) site in Colfax.
Ten of the former Bayer employees will be hired by Beck’s to remain on at the site to ensure a seamless transition this fall and winter, guaranteeing that soybean seeds will be ready for spring 2022 planting.
