Bartlett Building $325M Soybean Crushing Plant in Southeast Kansas
Bartlett, a company of the Savage Group, has gained approval from the Board of County Commissioners of Montgomery County, Kansas, in support of the company’s plan to invest $325 million to develop a soybean crushing facility in the county.
The project is being framed as a key milestone in bringing infrastructure to Kansas that will accelerate the U.S.’s transition to a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable transportation system. Once completed, the facility will have the capacity to handle approximately 38.5 million bushels of soybeans per year, which will be crushed into soybean meal, refined soybean oil, and feedstocks for the production of renewable fuels, food products, and animal feed.
Bartlett stated that the site will play a major role in multiple supply chains, including renewable diesel, and given its central location in the middle of the country, will be strategically situated. The project will generate about 50 permanent jobs, and will process about 110,000 bushels of soybeans per day. It will have clear access to highways 160, 166, 169, and 400, and will be served by the South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad, which will connect the facility to a network of Class 1 carriers.
