Consolidated Grain and Barge Acquires Non-GMO Soybean Business

Consolidated Grain and Barge (CGB) announced it has acquired the specialty food-grade soybean business of Quality Technology International (QTI) for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 1969 in Mandeville, Louisiana, CGB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CGB Enterprises, and is a leader in the grain and transportation industries. Already well experienced in the Identity Preserved (IP) and specialty grain market, the newly acquired business will be integrated with CGB’s Market Development group, as it works to expand the company’s presence in the food and consumer areas for non-GMO, specialty, and organics. As such, the business will trade, ship, and sell specialty soybeans via container to Japan, as well as domestically for the purpose of being processed and then sold to Japanese manufacturers of such staples as tofu, miso, and natto.
