United Grain Acquires Two Scoular Grain Facilities in Oregon, Idaho

United Grain Corp. announced it has acquired two grain facilities from Nebraska-based Scoular Company, expanding its operations in both Oregon and Idaho.

Based in Vancouver, Washington, United Grain has taken ownership of a grain storage and shipping operation in Ontario, Oregon, that will primarily deal with wheat, however, United Grain has stated that it will work with Scoular over the coming year on the company's corn program.

United Grain already operates a terminal in Umatilla on the Columbia River, and decided to seize the opportunity to add the Ontario facility to its local holdings. Most of the area’s wheat is loaded on barges at United Grain’s McNary terminal and transported down the Columbia River to the export facility for shipment to Asia, and the acquisition of the Ontario facility will expand the company’s ability to “bring markets for more crops in the area”.
