GrainsConnect Opens its Fourth Canadian Terminal in Huxley, Alberta

GrainConnect Canada has opened its fourth Canadian terminal in Huxley, Alberta. Joining the company’s three existing facilities in Vegreville, Alberta, Reford, Saskatchewan and Maymont, Saskatchewan, the inland Huxley location is currently receiving grain from the region’s farmers.

Led by general manager Chad Dettmer, and run by operations manager Wayne Sharp, the Huxley terminal has generated significant local employment during construction and operations, and once fully online, will have the capacity to load more than 150 rail cars in under 14 hours.

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, GrainsConnect is a joint venture between GrainCorp and Zen-Noh Group. And in addition to the company’s inland storage terminals and rail systems, GrainsConnect Canada and GrainCorp also have constructed the Fraser Grain Terminal at the Port of Vancouver, which itself is a 50-50 joint venture between GrainsConnect Canada and Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H), and which has the ability to export up to four million tons of wheat, barley, oilseeds, pulses, and other commodities per year.
