Ardent Mills Expands Organic Grain Footprint with Acquisition of Oregon Elevator
Ardent Mills has enhanced its ability to support organic grain farmers in the Pacific Northwest with the acquisition of a grain elevator in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
The elevator is also in proximity to the company’s community mill in Stockton, California, and its mix plant in Arlington, Oregon, strengthening its core business, and the company’s ability to partner with universities on breeding and serving its customer base. In addition, the Oregon elevator will open new opportunities and innovative initiatives for Ardent Mills in breeding grains like organic barley, while also stimulating the local economy.
Only two months ago, Ardent announced the expansion of its Denver mill, which in addition to milling flour, will now clean and pack intact grains, pearl barley, and dehull heirloom grains such as emmer, einkorn, and spelt, connecting farmers with specialty markets including artisanal baking, brewing, and distilling. With a daily milling capacity of 5,000 cwts, it will also produce and clean organic and non-GMO grains for sale nationwide in 25-pound and 50-pound bags.
