Richardson International Opens Saskatchewan Research Farm

Richardson International announced the official opening of Bennet Farm, a 600-acre research and demonstration farm southeast of Regina, Saskatchewan.

The company invested C$15 million (US$11.2 million) in the farm, which will function to complement Richardson’s research being conducted at Kelburn Farm, Richardson’s existing research farm in Manitoba.

Given Saskatechwan’s unique soil profile, the company can use the location to trial crops such as peals, durum wheat, and lentils, that are not commonly produced in Manitoba. The site is also centrally located as a training, research, and development center, as the bulk of Richardson’s grain handling and merchandising business in Western Canada relies on its network which is mostly located in Saskatchewan.

Bennet Farm will also serve as the location of Richardson Pioneer’s division office, along with a CropWatch agronomy center and meeting room called the Bruce Sobkow Center for Education & Development that is to act as a learning and collaboration space for Richardson employees.
