New High-Tech ADM Feed Facility Launched in Nebraska

Archer Daniel Midland (ADM) has unveiled its new high-tech animal feed facility in Columbus, Nebraska.

The state-of-the-art plant, which will run two 12-hour shifts, five days per week, is located directly adjacent to the old plant being replaced, which was built in 1968. It will focus on feed for beef feedlots and calf and cow operations, but also will produce feed products for pigs, chickens, lambs, and goats.

Included in the layout of the new plant are automated and computerized production systems that handle receiving, batching, packaging, and loading.

Additionally, the state-of-the-art facility includes a production line to provide a range of blocks for cattle, dairy cows, and horses; several batching systems; the ability for simultaneous weighing, which will increase efficiency and output, and a control system designed to guarantee steady quality control and safety.

ADM plans to gut its original feed plant built in 1968, so the building can be used for warehousing.
