Ardent Mills Launches New Grain and Plant-Based Ingredients Unit

Leading North American flour supplier and grain company Ardent Mills announced it is launching The Annex by Ardent Mills -- a new business unit for the supply of “next” grains and plant-based ingredients.

Designed to operate as a “company within a company”, The Annex will cultivate relationships with farmers, customers, research teams, and universities to identify, source, and grow the leading edge organic and heirloom grain varieties. Selections of heirloom wheat already in the company’s portfolio include emmer, einkorn, spelt, and White Sonora. Other grains include amaranth, millet, teff, sorghum, Great Plains quinoa, pulses, rye, and barley.

The new unit, which will absorb Ardent Mills’ Innovative Bakery Resources (IBR) unit and its mix facility located in Arlington, Oregon, also will have access to the resources, expertise, and networks already in place with Ardent Mills.
