Increasing animal feed demand sparks $32 million expansion by Cargill

In a move to further strengthen its position in the animal feed sector, Cargill has announced a plan for a $32 million expansion at its Temple, Texas, production facility. The expansion will address increasing demand from key customer segments in that area.

Construction will begin in March of this year, with expected completion in early 2019. The Texas plant opened in 1998 with a focus on poultry feed production. The expansion, which will add some 30 jobs at the facility, will add capability for agricultural retail and beef customers.

Cargill’s commitment to the U.S. animal feed business is ongoing, evidenced by other recent investments in the sector, including the September 2017 acquisition of the animal feed business of Southern States Cooperative, based in Richmond, Virginia.
