Amaggi Buys Majority Stake in Norwegian Non-GMO Grain Company

Brazil-based Amaggi, the largest soybean grower in the world, announced it has acquired a majority stake in Denofa, a Norwegian producer of non-GMO oilseeds for an undisclosed amount.

This deal comes one year after Amaggi established a European division with an initial office in Rotterdam, and will align with the company’s strategic plan to expand its non-GMO business.

Denofa is the only producer in Scandinavia that makes soybean meal and oil as well as lecithin from non-GMO soybeans for the feed and food industries. The company comes with a crushing facility in Fredrikstad, Norway, with a capacity of 430,000 tons per year, and a rapeseed oil processing operation in Poland. This crush capacity will be added to Amaggi’s existing annual crush capacity of 2.4 million tons from its three plants in Brazil.
