BayWa Acquires Specialty Grains and Oilseeds Trader Specialty Crops

German agricultural trading company BayWa announced its acquisition of UK specialty grain and oilseed trader Premium Crops Ltd. from U.S.-based Technology Crops LLC for an undisclosed amount.

The deal, which was facilitated through BayWa subsidiary Cefetra Ltd., gives BayWa control of a specialty crop contracting and supply business that is focused on traceability, sustainability, and risk-managed supply chains for niche oilseeds and grains.

Cefetra, also based in the UK, is one of the country’s leading ag traders with a trading volume of more than 4 million tons of grain per year. However, the addition of Premium Crops will provide the company with new opportunities in the specialty crop sector, and will enable it to offer its customers in Europe and neighboring markets a wider range of products as demand continues to grow.
