Palm oil is the world’s top source of vegetable oil, however, the palm oil industry is no stranger to controversy.
Since the 1990s palm oil production has more than doubled, and today, the industry is increasingly focused on meeting challenges head-on through greater sustainability and environmental stewardship with the foundation of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), which has more than 3,000 members and certifies more than 20 percent of the global palm oil supply as being sustainably produced.
Although producers continually strive for increased transparency in the supply chain, challenges remain, and facts are often clouded for end users and potential investors in the sector.
Mark Zavodnyik, project manager at HighQuest Partners, addresses these issues and more in the following white paper, From Plantation to Pricing: Navigating the Modern Palm Oil Landscape.
