A total of $14 million is being committed by three donors in support of a new educational and research facility for feed milling and grain science at Iowa State University.
The first three donors are The Kent Corporation, which is donating $8 million; the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, which is donating $4 million; and Sukup Manufacturing Co., which is donating $2 million.
The $21.2 million site will include a feed mill tower, milling and mixing structures, grain storage bins, and a classroom and laboratory building, and will serve to centralize and provide custom feed for the university’s research and teaching farms. It will also provide students the ability to study feed safety and biosecurity issues, and facilitate better production of experimental diets.
All funding for the complex will be gathered entirely through private donations, and a timeline for the development of the project will be established as plans and the facility design progress.
