American Soybean Association CEO Nominated for Deputy Sec of Ag

Steve Censky, chief executive of the American Soybean Association for the past 21 years, has been nominated by President Trump to assume the role of deputy secretary of agriculture.

Censky grew up in Minnesota on a soybean, corn, and diversified livestock farm and later graduated from South Dakota State University, and went on to earn a postgraduate degree in agricultural science from the University of Melbourne in Australia.

His career began as a legislative assistant for then Senator Jim Abdnor (R-SD), and later went on to hold positions at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) during the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations, eventually filling the role of administrator of the Foreign Agricultural Service.

Current Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue has expressed his support of the nomination, and Chandler Goule, CEO of the National Association of Wheat Growers, also expressed his belief that Censky will excel in the position and benefit U.S. farmers.
