Mountaire Acquires Lansing Trade Group Grain Assets

U.S.-based Mountaire Farms announced it has agreed to acquire grain elevators and operating assets located in Pocomoke, Maryland, and Eastville and Painter, Virginia, from Lansing Trade Group.

Mountaire Farms is a family-owned agribusiness that is the seventh largest broiler company in the U.S., producing 46.63 million pounds of ready-cook-chicken per week. This deal will give the company a greater level of vertical integration within the supply chain, and a greater presence on the Delmarva Peninsula.

The elevators, which were previously owned by Coastal Commodities Inc., will continue to handle the five key commodities of corn, wheat, barley, milo, and beans.
