G3 Opens New Terminal at Port of Hamilton

G3 - a joint venture between Bunge and Saudi state-owned SALIC - has officially opened its new 50,000-ton terminal located at the Port of Hamilton. The opening of this terminal is the latest step for the group as it works to create a coast-to-coast grain network across Canada.

Construction at the site, which will serve as the group’s spearhead into the grain handling space in southern Ontario, was completed on schedule and loaded its first vessel on June 2.

The opening of this terminal is the latest in a series of expansionary moves by G3 which include the planned construction of two grain elevators in Saskatchewan announced in March; plans announced in December 2016 to build the first new grain export terminal in North Vancouver since the 1960s; and the opening of two high-efficiency grain terminals in Pasqua, Saskatchewan, and Glenlea, Manitoba, in June of last year.

Both facilities in Pasqua and Glenlea have 134-car loop tracks able to load full trains while moving, and high capacity drags which enable farmers to unload full super-Bs in five minutes or less.
