ADM Opens New Silo on Danube River in Bulgaria

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) announced that it has officially opened its new Port ADM Silistra silo located on the Danube River in Silistra, Bulgaria.

The 20,000 ton silo has been built in response to increasing production of commodities in the region, and will add incremental volumes to Black Sea grain exports while also enhancing access to networks connecting Eastern European farmers with key global markets.

The opening of the silo is the latest in a string of development projects for ADM. At the beginning of this month the group announced its plans to build a new flour mill in Illinois, and last month completed a series of expansion projects at its terminal at Port Santos in Brazil. The group also announced it was acquiring a majority stake in Israeli agricultural and feed company, Industries Centers; and earlier this spring announced its intention to acquire Chamtor - a French producer of wheat-based sweeteners and starches.

Additionally, ADM subsidiary, Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts, is amid its third expansion project at its site in Blakely, Georgia, that will increase capacity, storage, and raise quality control.
