Cargill to Build Fifth Feed Mill in Korea
In response to a growing animal feed market and the climbing demand for meat in the Korean diet, Cargill Chairman and CEO David MacLennan announced at a recent press conference marking the 50th anniversary of its Korean unit, that the company is planning to build a fifth feed plant in the country within the next two to three years.
Currently the company operates four mills in Korea with the combined capacity to produce 2 million tons of livestock feed per year. The company has its sights set on increasing annual output in the country to 2.7 million tons by 2025.
The location of the fifth mill has not yet been determined, but the company has narrowed the selection to either Gyeongsang or Jeolla province. In November 2015 the company opened its largest livestock feed mill in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province with the capacity to produce 870,000 tons of feed per year. It’s three other existing mills are in Gunsan and Jeongeup, North Jeolla Province, and Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province.
