$55 Million Poultry Feed Mill Opens in Alabama

One of the largest poultry feed mills in the U.S. has started operations in the southern part of Alabama. Owned by Wayne Farms LLC, the location incorporates the latest technology and robotics equipment, enabling the company to produce 25,000 tons of feed per week.

The mill will have rail-based receiving capacity of 27.8 million bushels of corn each year, with local producers providing more than three million bushels.

The new mill will be able to mix and prepare multiple varieties of feed formulations for baby chicks, broilers, pullets, and hens. Given that Alabama is top state for poultry production, the ability to produce several different feed formulations is critical for farmers in this region.
