Bunge to Build First New Soybean Processing Plant in U.S. in 15 Years

Bunge North America announced it is committing to plans to enhance its soybean processing presence in the Eastern U.S., which includes the construction of the company’s first new soybean processing plant in the U.S. in 15 years.

Driven by the sustained and long-term demand for soy products, the company has concluded that it is key that it improve its asset holdings in the major U.S. market.

The new state-of-the-art facility, which will be located in either Ohio or Indiana, will incorporate the latest productivity, safety, and sustainability technologies, and together with a more general improvement of the company’s efficiency in its existing operations, Bunge is aiming to better meet growing demand in the Southeastern U.S. and foreign markets.

Once a final site is selected and all regulatory approvals are secured, construction will begin with expectations that the site will be online by the end of 2019.
