Viterra Reopens Vancouver Terminal After $100M Upgrade

Viterra Inc. officially opened its Pacific Terminal located at the Port of Vancouver on October 27.

The re-opening comes after the completion of a $100 million upgrade at the site that will help solidify the company’s standing as a major grain handler and trader on the west coast.

The project, which includes the addition of a new ship loader, bulk weighers, rotary cleaners, conveyors and enhancements to the site’s electrical and dust control systems, will lift the terminal’s grain handling capacity to over six million tons per year – tripling the site’s previous capacity. It will also enable the loading of post-Panamax vessels, the largest vessels traveling through the Panama Canal.

The company has also announced plans to build an additional new terminal in Wadena, Saskatchewan that will have 34,000 tons of storage and will have the ability to load 156 railcars through a loop track.
