U.S. Harvest Update: Week Ending September 26

Thirty percent of the U.S. wheat crop has been harvested according to the latest crop progress report issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the week ending September 26. This is directly in line with the five year average of 30 percent for this point in the harvest. Winter wheat emergence was also in line with its five year average at eight percent.

Seventy four percent of the country’s corn crop is in good to excellent condition, while 19 percent is in fair condition, and seven percent in in poor to very poor condition. The overall corn crop is 15 percent harvested with 73 percent at a mature stage compared to 64 percent mature for the five year average.

U.S. soybean conditions remain unchanged at 73 percent in good to excellent condition, 20 percent in fair condition, and seven percent in poor to very poor condition. Total U.S. soybean harvest stands at 10 percent complete compared to 17 percent complete last year at this time, with sixty eight percent of the crop is dropping its leave compared to a five year average of 64 percent.
