Cargill Announces Expansion of Canola Research Facility

On August 30, Cargill announced a $3.5 million investment to expand and upgrade to its canola research facility in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan. The project will include a 14,000 square foot expansion including an enlarged pathology lab, a new quality assurance lab, and a ventilated seed prep room.

Saskatchewan is a key geography for investment for Cargill, with more than 26 percent of the company’s investments being in the province. Cargill has six businesses and 20 locations across Saskatchewan, and has expanded its footprint in the region with more than $300 million in capital investments.

Cargill opened an $8.5 million animal nutrition facility in Vietnam; in April the company expanded its animal nutrition facility in Mequinenza, Spain; in January of this year Cargill opened a wet corn milling plant in Davangere, India and a new Technology Application Center in Turkey, and in November 2015 Cargill opened its largest feed mill in Pyeongtaek, South Korea with a capacity to produce 870,000 tons of poultry, ruminant, and swine feed per year.
