The latest U.S. Department of Agriculture 's (USDA) Crop Report , issued on August 12, projects that both the U.S. corn crop and the U.S. soybean crop will break all previous records.

Total U.S. corn output will likely reach 15.15 billion bushels this season– an 11 percent increase over last year’s output of 13.6 billion bushels and exceeding the previous record set in 2014 of 14.2 billion bushels.

Total U.S. harvested corn acreage for the season is expected to be 86.6 million acres – significantly higher than last year’s acreage of 80.7 million acres.

The average corn yield for the country is forecast to be a record setting 175.1 bushels per acre – 4.1 bushels higher than the last record set in 2014.

Total U.S. soybean production for this year is expected to be 4.06 billion bushels – a new record topping the record output of 3.929 billion bushels set last year. Total harvested soybean acreage is expected to be 83 million acres – exceeding 2015’s harvested acres of 81.8 million acres.
