Ontario Gets First Private Grain Testing Facility

Grain Farmers of Ontario and SGS Canada have partnered to launch the first private grain testing facility in Ontario.

Located in Guelph, the facility will provide grain farmers, millers, and processors with a more local source for quality testing than facilities currently located in Western Canada.

"There are two labs that are located in western Canada, but they really are focused in more on western Canadian crops," said Nicole Mackellar, manager of market development for Grain Farmers of Ontario. "That's one of the reasons why we were very interested in developing a lab here in Ontario.”

The investment behind the construction of the lab was not disclosed, but it was revealed that the cost of establishing the facility was shared between SGS Canada and Grain Famers of Ontario.
