Cargill Expanding its Animal Feed Mill in Spain
As part of its plans to streamline it animal nutrition business, Cargill is investing €20 million (US$22 million) to upgrade and expand its animal feed plant in Mequinenza, Spain including the addition of a state-of-the-art production line.
The project is expected to improve the quality of the resulting products, improve logistics and distribution systems, and in turn, improve the overall customer experience and strengthen Cargill’s position as a leader in Spain’s animal nutrition space.
“The new operation provides us with a long term perspective for our operations in Spain,” said Alberto Martinez, managing director for Cargill’s animal nutrition business, Spain, in a company statement.
Once the expansion is complete, the company’s Colmenar plant will be shut down and its production moved to the Mequinenza plant with positions at the Mequinenza plant offered to the affected Colmenar employees.
