Syngenta Re-Opens California Facility After $11.2 Million Expansion

Syngenta has officially reopened its Woodland, California research and development and seed production facility after the completion of a $11.2 million expansion project.

Due to the expansion, the site will have new greenhouses and specialized plant growing environments for cereals, corn, and vegetables, a new plant pathology laboratory, additional space for expanded research and development activity, and a 35% increase in its workforce.

California has been the most agriculturally production state in the U.S. for the past 50 years, with a $46.4 billion industry including 80,500 farms and ranches that generate a minimum of $100 billion in related economic benefits.

“The challenges associated with feeding a growing global population in an environmentally sustainable way require that we think differently about how we help growers create efficiencies and improve their productivity,” said Sean Knapp, North American Head of Vegetable Seed Product Marketing for Syngenta.
