Bayer CropScience Investing $50 Million to Upgrade Muskegon Operations

Bayer CropScience is investing $50 million to expand and upgrade its Muskegon, Michigan facility as part of the company’s global initiative to double its production capacity for its Liberty herbicide.

The company will make ‘significant’ upgrades to the site which produces its Liberty product, through the addition of new production equipment and machinery. The new additional capacity is scheduled to be online in the middle of 2017.

The company has stated that it doesn’t have any further plans for expansion at this time, however the option is available. Currently Bayer CropScience’s company campus in the Bayer Industrial Park utilizes only 40 acres of the 400-acre company property.

The Muskegon project for the expansion of Liberty production comes five years after the company invested $15 million for a 15,000 square foot expansion to increase production capacity for its Ignite brand of herbicide.
