Grain Silo Plants Worth $100 Million Headed to Egypt

Denmark’s A/S Cimbria, a global leader in grain processing technologies and the world’s largest supplier of seed processing equipment, has secured the biggest order in the company’s history – the delivery of 23 grain silo plants to Egypt.

The contract includes the supply of the project design, engineering, structures, equipment, cleaners, laboratory equipment, silos, electronic control systems, spare parts for three years of operation, and delivery to Egypt. Once in country, the contract also calls for the oversight of the installations at all 23 sites, which stretch from the Mediterranean Sea to Aswan.

Once installed, Cimbria will assume the responsibility of training 20 employees at each site in operation and maintenance, and the conducting of final capacity testing.

Of the 23 plants being delivered, 10 facilities are being constructed for the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, to be used for the delivery and storage of locally produced grain, and 12 are being constructed for the government-owned Egyptian Holding Company for Silo Storage, which will be used as temporary and intermediate storage for imported wheat. The last site will be constructed for the North Cairo Flour Mills Co.

Cimbria has delivered grain facilities to Egypt for 25 years, and has had a sales office in the country since 2012. Delivery of this order for 23 plants has already begun, and is expected to continue until the spring of 2016.
