Manitoba Invests $1.2 Million in Corn and Soybean Production

Within the next ten years, industry projections indicate that soybean and corn production in Western Canada may exceed 14 million acres as demand from export markets, and the crushing, distillery, feed, and ethanol industries rapidly rises.

To help strengthen Western Canada’s corn and soybean industries to better meet these demands, The Western Economic Diversification Canada is investing $1.2 million with the Manitoba Corn Growers Association in association with Manitoba Pulse Growers Association, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and the University of Manitoba for the purchase of the needed equipment to expand agronomy research.

The equipment will allow for increased accuracy and precision in research to be carried out in various geographies throughout the province, gaining results that will be relevant to growers in specific areas, resulting in an overall larger scale of production and expanded access to both growing domestic and foreign markets.
