Bühler to Build US$54 Million Flour Milling Complex in Saudi Arabia

The Bühler Technology Group has agreed to build a new CHF 50 million (US$54 million) flour milling complex in Jazan, Saudi Arabia.

The new mill, contracted by Saudi Arabia’s state run Grain Silos & Flour Mills Organization (GSFMO), will be constructed over the course of three years and will have a capacity of 600 tons per day.

Since 1978, Bühler has supplied 50% of all the flour mills in Saudi Arabia – building as many as 15 mills across seven sites. The largest mill built by Bühler in Saudi Arabia, built near the city of Mecca, has recently begun operation. With a capacity of 1,200 tons per day, the mill was developed to supply food to pilgrims visiting the city.

Bühler will construct the plant at Jazan in collaboration with a local civil engineering firm and will be providing all of the manufacturing and the mechanical and technical equipment for the Jazan plant both during and after start-up of operations.

The GSFMO operates under Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Agriculture and is the country’s only flour producer supplying 2 million tons of flour to meet the country’s yearly consumption.
