Ceres Global’s Northgate, Saskatchewan Operations are Ramping Up

Construction is on schedule and operations are ramping up at Ceres Global Ag Corp.’s $90 million dual Logistics Center in Northgate, Saskatchewan. The company’s expansion will enable it to include additional grain products that could provide the company improved margins and open new trading and marketing opportunities.

Ceres is moving grain from its Northgate hub to its sister grain handling facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Riverland Ag, from where it is then shipped to processors, mills and foreign markets. Currently 60-80 car trains containing grain and some oilseeds are leaving the hub on a weekly basis, but once the company’s 2.2 million bushel grain elevator is completed, shipments will be able to increase in volume and in pace.

The company has already added a 430,000 bushel steel storage bin for soybeans and canola, and once the elevator is complete in the spring of 2016 and the bin is integrated, total storage capacity on site will reach 2.7 million bushels.

The site is currently being serviced by a direct rail line recently built by BNSF with an additional parallel line to be built to manage oil shipments from Saskatchewan to American markets, and reciprocal shipments from the U.S. back to the north.
