Richard Mayhew Joins R.J. O’Brien to Build EMEA Grain Team

Chicago-based independent futures brokerage and clearing firm R.J. O’Brien & Associates (RJO) has announced that Richard Mayhew has joined its affiliate, R.J. O’Brien (UK) Ltd. as senior vice-president, head of Grain and Oilseeds, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Mr. Mayhew will build a team to focus on all grain-related futures, and to serve commercial clients in the European, Middle East and African regions.

After building a major institutional grain business in North America, this is RJO’s first grain initiative out of Europe. The team will be dedicated to developing the firm’s global offerings in the EMEA regions, which it sees as having significant latent potential. Mr. Mayhew states, “We intend to offer a complete service to our clients across everything related to grains and oilseeds, including freight, energy and foreign exchange components."

Mr. Mayhew has spent his entire career in grain. Originally from London, Mr. Mayhew came to Chicago at the age of 21 working on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and spent 10 years as a physical trader of soybean barges and as an account executive with Prudential Bache in New Orleans. He also served as a Grain & Oilseed future broker for Refco Overseas Ltd and GNI Limited in London. Prior to this appointment, he served as head of International Grain & Oilseeds Future Broking for ADM Investor Services International Ltd since 1999.
