New Grain Handling Company to Establish in Saskatchewan

Hanfood Group Holding Corp. announced plans for a new $20 million grain handling facility and agricultural food park in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. Preliminary work on the site is scheduled to begin this spring. The facility will include the capacity for 46,000 tons of storage and a 134-car loop rail track connected to lines owned by Canadian Pacific Railway.

Partners in the project state that certain aspects of construction will be fast-tracked in order for the facility to be able to accommodate grain deliveries this fall before the entire facility is completed.

Hanfood president, Andy Hu, who is also the president of Regina-based farm property management and land holding company, MaxCrop Farm Canada, that owns and leases 30,000 acres of farmland in Saskatchewan, says that Hanfood will buy domestic grain and oilseed for export to China, the US, and Europe. He goes on to state that the Nipawin project is the first step toward Hanfood building additional grain handling facilities across Saskatchewan, and becoming a recognized, global grain handling and food processing company.
