8:00am - 1:00pm: Visit the CHS Savage Grain Terminal and Bayer CropScience SeedGrowth Innovation Center 

 

CHS Savage Grain Terminal, Savage, MN:

Tour this busy elevator facility on the Minnesota River that was built to increase access to export markets through the Gulf of Mexico. Savage receives grain by truck and rail and loads it into barges for export. The facility also functions as a unit-train loader, loading trains headed for the West Coast or to mills or processors for domestic users.

 

Bayer CropScience SeedGrowth™ Innovation Center, Shakopee, MN:

High tech equipment will be the focus of this visit to the brand new $12 million seed treatment facility in Shakopee. The application of SeedGrowth™ seed treatments is vital to protecting a farmer’s valuable seed investment, and the equipment that is used to apply seed treatments is a critical link in the seed value chain.  Enjoy demonstrations of a laser cutting machine, a 3D measuring tool for quality control and other state of the art equipment.
